Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok, who also serves as the Minister of Economy and Finance, inspected frontline sites in the transportation, firefighting, and public safety sectors during the Lunar New Year holiday on the 27th.

On that day, Acting President Choi visited the Korea Expressway Corporation Traffic Center and urged, "Since this year’s Lunar New Year holiday is longer than usual, and the number of travelers returning home, going back, and traveling is expected to increase significantly, please ensure thorough management of traffic conditions so that the public can travel safely and comfortably," according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

He especially warned that if the forecasted snow and rain freeze, road safety could be at risk, and instructed that the holiday measures be frequently checked on-site to ensure they are functioning properly.

Acting President Choi also visited the Seoul Metropolitan Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Center and said, "Since the Lunar New Year holiday is a period with a high possibility of various safety accidents, please maintain heightened vigilance and ensure thorough work," urging the staff.

He added, "Please establish a thorough emergency transport system so that 119, which the public turns to first in emergencies, can provide prompt first aid and transport."

Acting President Choi then moved to the Gwanghui Police Substation of the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul and encouraged the officers, saying, "The reason the public can live with peace of mind is thanks to the police officers who spare no effort on the front lines of public safety," emphasizing, "Please respond quickly to 112 calls such as those involving drunken violence and safety accidents, and take immediate action on-site."

The government announced that it is doing its best to ensure public safety, having established safety management measures for the Lunar New Year holiday on the 15th and held the "Central and Local Safety Inspection Meeting for the Lunar New Year Holiday" on the 20th, attended by various ministries and 17 metropolitan cities and provinces.
