Regime Extension 46.0%·Change 49.1%... Rising Trend for Kukhim and Declining Trend for Minjudang 'Simultaneous Pause'

Realmeter Poll Shows Close Race Between Administration Extension and Regime Change
People Power Party at 45.4% vs Democratic Party at 41.7%

A public opinion poll released on the 27th showed that the debate between extending the current administration and regime change has been neck-and-neck within the margin of error for two consecutive weeks.


According to a survey conducted by Realmeter commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper from the 23rd to 24th, targeting 1,002 voters nationwide aged 18 and over, the preference for the next presidential election ruling power was measured (95% confidence level with a ±3.1% margin of error). The results showed 46.0% in favor of 'extending the current ruling party's administration,' 49.1% for 'regime change by the opposition,' and 4.8% responded 'not sure.'


Compared to the survey a week ago, support for regime change rose by 2.9 percentage points from 46.2%, while support for extending the administration fell by 2.6 percentage points from 48.6%. However, the difference between the two opinions was 3.1 percentage points, which is within the margin of error.

By region, the extension of the administration led in Daegu·Gyeongbuk (TK), Chungcheong region, and Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (PK). The support for extending the administration in these regions was 67.0%, 57.3%, and 53.5%, respectively. In contrast, support for regime change in these areas was only 29.1%, 39.8%, and 40.7%, respectively. Regime change was favored more than extension in Honam region (76.2%) and Incheon·Gyeonggi (54.7%). In Seoul, regime change stood at 49.1%, while extension was at 47.6%.


In the party approval ratings survey, the People Power Party dropped by 1.1 percentage points from the previous week to 45.4%, while the Democratic Party rose by 2.7 percentage points to 41.7%. The five-week trend of the People Power Party’s rise and the Democratic Party’s decline has stopped, and the gap between the two parties narrowed to 3.7 percentage points, falling within the margin of error after one week.
