원본보기 아이콘Most areas of Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk are currently under heavy snow advisories, with strong snowfall expected at a rate of 3 to 5 cm per hour.
According to the Gwangju Meteorological Administration, as of 8:40 a.m. on the 27th, heavy snow advisories have been issued for Gwangju, Gurye and Jangseong in Jeonnam, as well as Gochang, Jinan, Muju, Jangsu, Imsil, Sunchang, and Namwon in Jeonbuk.
Snow accumulation has reached 55.1 cm at Seolcheonbong in Muju, 7.4 cm at Deogyusan, 4.0 cm at Seongsamjae in Gurye, 3.1 cm at Mudeungsan in Gwangju, 2.6 cm at Baemsagol in Namwon, 2.5 cm in Jangsu, 2.1 cm in Jindo, and 1.2 cm in Jangseong.
From today until the following day, the expected snowfall in Gwangju, Jeonnam, and western Jeonbuk is 5 to 10 cm, with some areas expected to see more than 15 cm. In eastern Jeonbuk, 10 to 20 cm of snow is forecast, with some areas expected to receive more than 30 cm.
Traffic has also been restricted. A 14 km section of the Nogodan Road in Gurye is closed to vehicles, and access to three national parks?Jirisan, Wolchulsan, and the eastern part of Mudeungsan?is currently restricted. A high seas advisory is in effect, suspending operations of 31 passenger ships on 24 routes in Jeonnam, including Mokpo, Yeosu, and Wando.
An official from the Meteorological Administration said, "With rain or snow falling in many places and heavy snow accumulating in most regions nationwide, icy and slippery roads are likely to occur, so please pay special attention to securing visibility and traffic safety."
