During last year's Chuseok holiday period, the food item with the highest sales at highway rest areas was Americano coffee.
On the 25th, Kim Eun-hye, a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee from the People Power Party, disclosed data received from the Korea Expressway Corporation. According to the data, Americano coffee recorded the highest sales during last year's Chuseok holiday (September 14-18), selling 2.274 billion KRW worth.
The second highest was walnut cookies, with sales of 1.984 billion KRW. Following were udon (1.959 billion KRW), ready-to-drink coffee beverages (1.881 billion KRW), and pork cutlet (1.799 billion KRW) in order.
During the same period, the highway rest area with the largest sales volume was Haengdamdo Rest Area in Dangjin, Chungnam, on the Seohaean Expressway, with 1.346 billion KRW. Next were Deokpyeong Rest Area on the Yeongdong Expressway (1.013 billion KRW), Siheung Haneul Rest Area on the Capital Region 1st Circular Expressway (730 million KRW), Pyeongtaek Rest Area on the Pyeongtaek-Jecheon Expressway (697 million KRW), and Jinyeong Rest Area on the Namhae Expressway (588 million KRW) in that order.
