The December 29 Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster Family Council issued a statement on the 23rd, declaring, "We strongly denounce several law firms that are trying to use this heartbreaking disaster for business purposes."
They criticized, "It has not even been a month since the accident occurred," and added, "At this point in time, discussing financial matters related to compensation or damages without the consent of the bereaved families is disrespectful to the victims."
They further stated, "While business activities or promotions by law firms may be considered a freedom for attorneys, delegating or appointing legal representation is a very significant decision that can affect legal proceedings," and pointed out, "Please stop contacting individual family members to solicit cases or holding explanatory sessions."
Additionally, they emphasized, "If you discover any inappropriate actions by law firms, please report them immediately to the representatives," and stressed, "The unity of the bereaved families is the greatest strength in uncovering the truth of the disaster and holding those responsible to account."
