From the 21st to the 22nd, 11 employees, including the head of the Culture and Tourism Division and staff from the city hall, visited the 'Gangwon-do Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation' and the 'Gyeonggi-do Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation' sequentially for benchmarking, the city announced.

The first visited 'Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation' was established in 2015 and has played a central role in regional cultural and artistic policies, hosting unique local festivals such as the Dano Festival, Kim Satgat Festival, and Donggang International Photo Festival, thereby establishing Yeongwol County as a cultural and artistic city.

Officials from the 'Yeongwol Culture and Tourism Foundation' emphasized that "it is important to sufficiently gather opinions from local cultural and artistic organizations, experts, and citizens from the early stages of the foundation's establishment," and they proposed holding public hearings for citizens.

The next visited 'Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation,' established in 2021, has successfully operated programs linking cultural heritage and artistic activities against the backdrop of natural heritage such as Gwangneung Forest and Hantan River, contributing to the revitalization of local culture.

Officials from the 'Pocheon Culture and Tourism Foundation' stressed that "the Yangju Culture and Tourism Foundation (tentative name) should establish its own identity and role, focusing on developing regional cultural policies and supporting artistic creation activities."

Yangju City plans to carefully proceed with administrative procedures such as reviewing the feasibility of the basic plan, establishment consultations, enacting ordinances and articles of association, and publicly recruiting executives and staff, based on the various opinions and advice gathered during this benchmarking.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun stated, "The Yangju Culture and Tourism Foundation (tentative name) will become a key hub leading the development of local culture and arts and expanding citizens' opportunities to enjoy culture. Through revitalizing cultural autonomy, we will enhance the quality of life for citizens, discover the unique cultural values of Yangju residents, and do our best to establish a foundation that raises the city brand value by reflecting Yangju's characteristics and resources."

Meanwhile, this benchmarking has become an important opportunity for Yangju City to lay the groundwork for the development of regional culture and tourism and marks a concrete step toward the goal of establishing the foundation in 2025.
