Gyeongnam Jeongbodae Successfully Hosts 'Energy New Industry Future Talent Development Forum'

Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) recently held the ‘Energy Up! Future Talent Development Forum for the New Energy Industry’ at the MARE Hall of the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Busan to lead innovation in the future energy industry.

The event was organized by the university’s New Energy Industry Innovation Convergence College Project Group and sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea, with about 60 participants from local governments, industry, and academia. The forum focused on discussing concrete implementation plans to establish a virtuous cycle structure of education-employment-reeducation linked to the new energy industry and contribute to regional industrial development.


At the forum, keynote presentations were given in the following order: △ Current status and development strategies of the new energy industry in the Busan area (Nam Ho-seok, Team Leader, Busan Research Institute) △ Directions for energy conversion and workforce development (Woo Hang-su, Research Fellow, Ulsan Technopark) △ Trends in secondary battery technology and the importance of talent development (Go Min-seong, Professor, Pukyong National University) △ Prospects of bio-nano convergence technology and workforce development (Oh Jin-woo, Director, Pusan National University) △ Workforce development plans through the Innovation Convergence College Project (Heo Kwang-seon, Director, Gyeongnam Information University).


In particular, during the comprehensive discussion session, Heo Kwang-seon, Director of Gyeongnam Information University, served as the chair and led an in-depth discussion on strategies for cultivating convergence-type talents needed in the new energy industry in the carbon-neutral era.


Heo Kwang-seon, Director of the New Energy Industry Innovation Convergence College Project Group, stated, “The new energy industry is a core sector that will drive South Korea’s sustainable growth. Gyeongnam Information University will fulfill its role as a hub for nurturing talent in the new energy industry by establishing a network that closely cooperates with local communities, industries, and educational institutions.”


The government-led ‘Advanced Field New Energy Industry Innovation Convergence College Project’ is a program that focuses on fostering talents in advanced fields linked to regional strategic industries. Korea University is the lead university, with Gyeongnam Information University, Seoul National University, Hanyang University, Kangwon National University, Jeonbuk National University, and Pusan National University participating together.
