NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have announced that they have no intention of returning to HYBE label ADOR and have initiated legal action.

Previously, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts with the NewJeans members, as well as an injunction to preserve its status as their agency and to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. In response, on January 23, the members announced through a separate social media account that they had appointed the law firm Shin & Kim as their legal representative.

The members stated, "HYBE and ADOR failed to fulfill their obligations as an agency to protect and nurture their artists. During our activities, we faced both major and minor interferences. In fact, they tried to replace us and disguised the notion of 'suspending our entertainment careers' as a 'long-term break.'" They further claimed, "HYBE and ADOR outwardly demanded our return, but behind the scenes, they continuously harassed and attacked us."

They continued, "Recently, they secretly met with some of our parents in an attempt to persuade them. We hope that instead of resorting to cowardly tactics, the truth will be determined in a fair and transparent manner."

The members also declared, "Even after the termination of our exclusive contracts, we wanted to amicably complete our remaining schedules and agreements without any disputes. However, ADOR and HYBE did not cooperate and caused harm through unfair means. We will no longer remain silent."

In November of last year, NewJeans held a press conference to announce the termination of their exclusive contracts and revealed plans to pursue independent activities. In December, they launched a new social media account, marking the start of their independent path. In response, ADOR stated, "The exclusive contracts with NewJeans remain valid," and filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of the contracts.

The following is the full statement from the NewJeans members.
We have confirmed through the media that, in addition to filing a lawsuit to confirm the validity of our exclusive contracts, ADOR has also applied for an injunction to preserve its agency status and to prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. A few days ago, we received the complaint and the application documents, and we have appointed the law firm Shin & Kim as our legal representative.

Since ADOR and HYBE have appointed Kim & Chang as their legal counsel, we believed it was necessary to appoint a law firm capable of responding to them. Given the fast-moving nature of the injunction process, we believe Shin & Kim, which is already familiar with the wrongdoings and issues of HYBE and ADOR, is the most suitable choice.

HYBE and ADOR have failed to fulfill their obligations as an agency to protect and support the growth of their artists. Throughout our activities, we faced constant interference, both major and minor. In fact, they essentially abandoned us and attempted to replace us, disguising their intention to "suspend our entertainment careers" as a "long-term break." Even after the exclusive contracts were lawfully terminated, we were subjected to groundless criticism via the media and YouTube "lecca" channels-information that could only have been known if provided by ADOR and HYBE. Given these circumstances, it is inevitable to conclude that ADOR and HYBE are at the center of all these incidents.

While ADOR and HYBE publicly told us to return, they continued to harass and attack us behind the scenes, away from public scrutiny. Recently, they secretly met with some of our parents to persuade or sow discord among us. Rather than resorting to cowardly tactics, undermining us out of sight, attempting to divide us, or manipulating the media with false information, we hope the truth will be determined openly and fairly.

Let us state this firmly: all five of us have absolutely no intention of returning to HYBE and ADOR, where we cannot expect even the minimum of good faith. Even after the termination of our exclusive contracts, we wished to amicably fulfill our remaining schedules and agreements without disputes and hoped that no harm would come to those involved. However, seeing ADOR and HYBE refuse to cooperate and cause harm to us and others through improper means, we have decided that we will no longer remain silent.

Through legal proceedings, we intend to clearly reveal the wrongdoings of ADOR and HYBE and to bring the truth to light in court. We are sorry to cause concern to our fans, who have always cherished and supported us. However, we will stand our ground to the end, by legitimate means, so that we can soon freely share our music with you again. We ask for your continued support.
