"More Heart Than Gifts!"... Gangseo-gu Operates Integrity Promotion Week

"Have a warm Lunar New Year holiday by sharing your heart rather than gifts."

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is operating an integrity promotion week until the 7th of next month to foster a clean public service atmosphere in celebration of the Lunar New Year. The purpose is to eradicate the habitual exchange of gifts that may occur before the holiday and to encourage a sincere Lunar New Year.

To spread a culture of integrity both internally and externally, Gangseo-gu will carry out various integrity promotion activities targeting all employees and residents of the district. The main activities include posting letters on integrity, conducting campaigns to eradicate corrupt practices, and promoting proper understanding of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.

The letters on integrity were posted separately for employees and residents. The letter addressed to all employees contains guidelines on adhering to integrity, such as eradicating habitual gift exchanges during holidays and personnel seasons. The letter to residents expresses the district’s commitment to integrity and asks for their participation in spreading a culture of integrity during the holiday season.

To eradicate corrupt practices, the district posts promotional materials titled "No Giving or Receiving Gifts During the Holidays" in public offices and conducts campaigns through broadcasts. Additionally, the district promotes the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the corruption and public interest reporting system to residents via the district website and social networking services (SNS). Information on gift regulations under the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, gift value limits applicable before and after the holidays, targets for corruption and public interest reporting, and reporting methods are posted as easy-to-understand card news for residents.

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "Integrity is the most fundamental virtue that public officials must possess, and we must always be vigilant against the privatization of public office. When public officials practice integrity, they can earn the trust of residents and create a better Gangseo-gu."
