Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited Mangwon Market and Ahyeon Market on the afternoon of the 22nd ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to encourage merchants who are struggling due to weakened consumer sentiment.
Mayor Park Gang-su and officials purchased fruits, meats, and other goods, engaging in traditional market shopping. The purchased items will be delivered to the Mapo Welfare Foundation to support neighbors in need within the community.
On the same day, Mayor Park Gang-su inspected the aging Ahyeon Market together with representatives from the market merchants' association. He checked the site to identify areas for improvement.
Additionally, various suggestions were made to widely promote the market. In particular, emphasis was placed on modernizing facilities, including the installation of information boards.
Through this visit, Mapo District is taking the lead in revitalizing traditional markets and stimulating consumption. Plans will be made to promote and modernize Ahyeon Market going forward.
Mayor Park Gang-su said, “Although this is a difficult time due to rising prices and weakened consumer sentiment, I hope everyone can purchase good products at affordable prices and experience warm kindness at traditional markets during this Lunar New Year holiday.”
