The Housing Welfare Center serves as an integrated housing control tower that effectively delivers various government and local government policies to vulnerable housing groups through the provision of housing welfare-related information and customized counseling. It is the first such center to open in Gyeongbuk, located in Pohang.

At the opening ceremony, Pohang City signed a business agreement with the Korea Senior Citizens Association, LH Corporation, Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, Korea Institute of Architects, and the Nam-gu and Buk-gu branches of the Korea Association of Realtors to mutually cooperate in linking various resources for housing welfare improvement, including ▲support for moving into public rental housing ▲support for small-scale home repair projects ▲housing environment improvement projects for vulnerable children ▲private housing brokerage support for vulnerable housing groups.

The ‘Pohang City Housing Welfare Center’ is operated directly by the Pohang City Apartment and Housing Welfare Team and will provide housing welfare-related information and customized housing counseling to Pohang citizens facing housing issues.

Additionally, it will offer integrated support for various housing welfare service connections and housing welfare policies. In the future, it plans to implement specialized projects that citizens can directly experience, such as the ‘Housing Upgrade Support Project for Vulnerable Groups,’ ‘Visiting Housing Welfare Talk Concerts,’ and ‘Housing Welfare Resident Education.’

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “Since housing is directly linked to safety for vulnerable groups, the Housing Welfare Center will strongly support citizens to reduce their housing concerns and live in a stable environment. We will also strive to develop policies that encompass all generations, including vulnerable groups, youth, and newlyweds, to become a model case for overcoming local extinction by enabling people to stay in Pohang.”
