Various organizations in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju have agreed to join forces to revitalize the local economy.
On the 22nd, Gwangsan-gu held an 'Emergency Economic Measures' meeting attended by representatives from 30 sectors including business, labor, academia, healthcare, and religious communities.
The participants agreed to take immediate actions such as promoting local alley businesses and traditional markets, as well as prioritizing the purchase of local agricultural, livestock, and manufactured products.
They also pledged to use local products for events and operations, purchase goods from neighborhood shops and small business owners, and establish a community network to respond to the economic crisis. Campaigns such as 'Shop at Stores Near My Home' and 'Promote Our Neighborhood's Best Restaurants on Social Media' will also be launched.
Public officials will also visit restaurants run by small business owners twice a week by department.
Park Byungkyu, head of Gwangsan-gu, said, "Solidarity and participation will serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will do our utmost to support these activities so that they lead to tangible changes felt by alley businesses, small business owners, and SMEs."
