On the 22nd, Lee Hyun-jae, Mayor of Hanam City, stated during a dialogue with residents of Sinjang-dong, "We will gradually promote the undergrounding of power lines centered around the old downtown area."
At the dialogue held at the Sinjang-dong Administrative Welfare Center, Mayor Lee said, "Currently, we are conducting an underground power line project for a total section of 410 meters from GS The Fresh Hanam store to in front of The Barun Hospital by removing overhead lines and installing underground power facilities, and we plan to expand this step by step."
Hanam City was selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2024 Underground Power Line Green New Deal Contest Project' and is promoting the undergrounding project of power lines in Sinjang Traditional Market, the first section of the old downtown undergrounding project, aiming for completion in September this year based on the secured budget. Additionally, the city plans to reapply for the contest in July this year to further expand the old downtown undergrounding project.
Furthermore, Mayor Lee promised to actively address parking difficulties in residential and commercial areas of the old downtown. Hanam City plans to create 150 mechanical parking spaces utilizing city-owned land.
The mayor also actively communicated regarding various issues raised by residents. In response to requests to revitalize alleyway commercial districts, he stated, "We will assist in receiving necessary support by linking with the Hanam Center of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, a specialized institution supporting small business owners."
Regarding the proposal to change the crosswalk between Sinjang Elementary School and The Sharp Hanam Edifice Apartments to a diagonal crosswalk, he replied, "We will carefully review the suggestions and consult with the relevant departments."
