The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) announced on the 22nd that it will pay participants in the self-support work program 7 days earlier than the usual payment date (the last day of each month).
The self-support work program is part of the National Basic Livelihood Security System. It provides self-support jobs to basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups who have the ability to work, and supports their exit from welfare and independence by paying self-support wages based on their labor.
Self-support wages are paid according to the participant's monthly working hours. Normally, the wage amount, which is determined by the number of working days, is paid on the last day of each month (or by the 3rd of the following month if there are any wage changes).
However, for January this year, due to the Lunar New Year holiday period in the last week (from the 25th to the 30th), it was decided to pay the self-support work wages in advance on the 24th, before the holiday.
Meanwhile, this year, the number of participants in the self-support work program has been expanded from 69,000 in 2024 to 72,000, an increase of 3,000. Self-support wages have also been raised by 3.7% compared to the previous year.
