The Naju City Direct Appeal Counseling Office, where citizens and the mayor meet to seek solutions through dialogue, has once again opened its doors wide this year for communication and empathy.

Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that Mayor Yoon Byungtae recently held the first Direct Appeal Counseling Office of 2025 in the small conference room at City Hall.

The Direct Appeal Counseling Office has been operated since 2023 to expand communication channels for face-to-face dialogue between citizens and the mayor, following the monthly on-site village forums that Mayor Yoon Byungtae has held since taking office.

'Direct Appeal' (Jikso) means to make an appeal directly to the administrator.

Citizens from all walks of life have been meeting one-on-one with the mayor to resolve long-standing grievances, ask questions about city administration, and propose policies in open and candid conversations, thereby relieving their pent-up civil complaints.

On this day, five citizens visited the Direct Appeal Counseling Office and made six proposals, including 'maintenance of Seoseongbyeok Park,' 'expansion of compensation for crop damage due to insufficient sunlight,' 'extension of the support project period for safe disposal of agricultural by-products,' and 'reassessment of the compensation scope of the public facility liability insurance.'

A resident who proposed the maintenance of Seoseongbyeok Park expressed regret, saying, "Although it is a representative historical and cultural tourist site in Naju, due to the occurrence of dead trees and a lack of tree quantity, the landscape has been damaged. Despite several suggestions for maintenance, proper management has not been carried out because the responsibility is divided between departments."

Mayor Yoon said, "Thank you for bringing up an issue that we had not previously identified," and suggested a solution: "We will remove dead trees, plant new ones through donations from the tree bank, and hold interdepartmental meetings to improve the efficiency of park management."

Meanwhile, the Naju City Direct Appeal Counseling Office is held regularly on the second Wednesday of every month. For advance applications and further details, please contact the Naju City Citizen Communication and Public Relations Office (Citizen Communication Team).
