World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) is expected to make a comeback at the end of this month.
On the 20th (local time), in video interviews with local US media, he said, "The surgery on my right hand went well, and my condition is good," adding, "I want to participate in next week's tournament, but the exact schedule will be decided within a week." He is expected to return at the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which opens on the 30th.
Scheffler was injured last December while preparing ravioli, an Italian pasta, for Christmas dinner, when he cut the palm of his right hand on broken glass. Since small glass shards remained in his palm, he underwent surgery. He laughed, saying, "After the surgery, I had to change the diaper of my son Bennett, who was born last year, with one hand, and I brushed my teeth with my left hand. This time, I confirmed my manual dexterity."
Regarding his training process, he said, "I couldn't hold a golf club after the surgery, but I tried to maintain my game sense through mind control," and introduced, "I prepared for my comeback by doing various lower body exercises." He added, "I am eager to return to the field, but I will not rush."
Scheffler is a leading star who won seven times on the PGA Tour last year. He maintained his position as the world's strongest male golfer by winning the Masters and the Paris Olympics, among other prestigious events. On the 11th, he was honored for the second consecutive year as the 2024 Male Golfer of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA).
