Trump "Plans to Meet Putin... Efforts for a Swift End to the Ukraine War"

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 20th (local time) that he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is at war with Ukraine, and that the process for this is already underway.

According to CNN and Bloomberg on the same day, President Trump, while signing an executive order in the White House Oval Office, said, "We will try to end the (Ukraine war) as quickly as possible," adding, "As you know, the war between Ukraine and Russia should never have started."

However, when asked about the specific timing of the meeting, he replied, "I don't know when we will meet."

Regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, President Trump said, "He wants to negotiate (for a ceasefire)," but about President Putin, he said, "Putin may or may not do that, but he has to negotiate."

When asked whether sanctions against Russia would be maintained, he did not give a clear answer.

Meanwhile, President Trump had previously stated during the election campaign that he could end the Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office.
