Goyang City Opens Applications for 2025 Military Noise Damage Compensation

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 21st that it will accept applications for the 2025 military noise damage compensation for military noise control areas from January 31 to February 28.

원본보기 아이콘The military damage compensation is a system established to compensate residents who are registered and actually reside in noise control areas designated by the Ministry of National Defense for noise damage. Eligibility for compensation can be checked on the Ministry of National Defense Military Noise Portal.
This year's applicants are residents (including foreigners) who have been registered and actually resided in the noise control areas of Goyang City (parts of Hwajeon-dong and Daedeok-dong) from January 1 to December 31, 2024. Those who have not applied before 2024 can also apply retroactively (compensation period: November 27, 2020 to December 31, 2023). However, duplicate applications are not allowed.
Applications can be submitted in person or by mail after checking the application form and required documents on the Goyang City website announcement board.
Additionally, starting this year, to alleviate the inconvenience of in-person applications and to make the process easier, online applications through Government24 are also available.
The compensation will be finalized and paid in August after a review in May, with adjustments based on actual residence period, move-in time, and distance to workplace (business location).
A Goyang Special City official said, "We hope that more residents near the noise control areas will show interest and apply to receive compensation for military noise damage," and added, "The city will do its best to protect the rights and interests of residents inconvenienced by military noise and contribute to their stable living."
