Donald Trump, inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, declared that "America's golden era has now begun," signaling a strong 'America First' policy. He also emphasized starting a 'revolution of common sense' through simultaneous executive orders focused on deporting illegal immigrants, imposing tariffs, and expanding fossil fuel drilling. This move is seen as the launch of the second Trump administration, marked by a sweeping effort to erase the legacy of Biden (former President Joe Biden) from day one.
At the inauguration ceremony held on the 20th (local time) at the Rotunda Hall of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., President Trump stated, "Today, I will sign a series of historic executive orders to begin the full recovery of America and a revolution of common sense."
In his inaugural address, President Trump declared, "First, I will declare a national emergency at the southern border," adding, "All illegal entries will be immediately halted, and procedures will begin to send millions of foreign criminals back to where they came from." He continued, "We will send the military to the southern border to repel the disastrous invasion of our country," and added, "We will designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations."
This confirmed his campaign promise to deport illegal immigrants through the first executive order, as he had announced during his candidacy.
He also confirmed his intention to declare a national energy emergency to expand fossil fuel drilling and production. He announced the termination of the Green New Deal policies promoted by the previous Joe Biden administration and the abolition of mandatory electric vehicle policies. President Trump has criticized the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a major legislative achievement of the Biden administration, calling it the 'Green New Scam.'
The White House issued a press release following President Trump's inaugural speech, stating that the new administration will withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. President Trump had withdrawn from this agreement during his first term, after which President Biden rejoined, but now Trump has declared withdrawal once again.
President Trump also reaffirmed his tariff imposition policy. He said, "To protect American workers and families, we will immediately review the trade system," emphasizing, "Instead of taxing Americans to enrich other countries, we will impose tariffs and taxes on foreign countries to enrich Americans." He also announced the establishment of a 'Foreign Revenue Service' to collect tariffs.
He expressed his intention to regain control of the Panama Canal. President Trump stated, "We did not hand over the Panama Canal to China, but now China is operating it," emphasizing, "We will take it back."
He also said he would instruct officials in his second administration to mobilize all powers to reduce inflation.
Furthermore, he announced, "From today, the official policy of the U.S. government recognizes only two genders: male and female," signaling a crackdown on 'woke' culture (a term mocking progressivism).
President Trump referred to the assassination attempt he narrowly survived during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last July, stating, "This is all to make America great again," and emphasized, "I will put America's interests first."
