Siwoo Kim, the 2021 American Express champion, finished in the lower ranks.
On the 19th (local time), at the Pete Dye Stadium Course (par 72, 7,210 yards) of PGA West in La Quinta, California, USA, the final round of the PGA Tour American Express (total prize money $8.8 million) concluded. Kim shot 1-under par and finished tied for 51st place (11-under par 277), ending the tournament. Kim won this tournament in 2021 and performed well with a tie for 11th place in 2022, raising expectations for a good result, but he faltered due to tee shot mistakes.
This tournament was played over the Pete Dye Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club (7,060 yards), and Nicklaus Tournament Course (7,147 yards, all par 72) for rounds 1 to 3 to determine the finalists. The final 4th round was held again at the Pete Dye Stadium Course. Except for Kim Siwoo, Kyoung-Hoon Lee, Juhyung Kim, and Sungjae Im were all cut off the previous day.
Kim started tied for 44th place and recorded 9 birdies, 2 bogeys, 1 double bogey, and 1 quadruple bogey. After a shaky start with a double bogey on the 10th hole, he made a birdie on the 12th hole (both par 4), but then faltered sharply. On the 13th hole (par 3), he hit his tee shot into the water twice and took 7 strokes to finish the hole. The 14th hole (par 4) was also a bogey. He lost a total of 6 strokes in the first 5 holes of the final day. Although he rallied with 5 consecutive birdies from holes 16 to 2, it was not enough to improve his ranking significantly.

Justin Thomas (USA) finished 2nd (23-under par 265), while Jason Day (Australia) and Justin Lower (USA) tied for 3rd (22-under par 266). Last week's Sony Open winner Nick Taylor (Canada) tied for 12th (17-under par 271), and Nick Dunlap (USA), who set a 33-year amateur winning record at this tournament last year, finished tied for 34th (13-under par 275).
