Hampyeong County, South Jeolla Province, announced on the 19th that it will implement the 'Rural Vacant House Maintenance' and 'Rural Housing Improvement' support projects to improve the residential environment in rural areas.
The 'Rural Vacant House Maintenance' support project provides up to 2.5 million KRW per person for the demolition of 50 vacant houses that have not been inhabited or used for over a year.
Priority will be given to houses that significantly damage the landscape in urban areas and along roadsides, or that are at risk of safety accidents such as collapse or fire, or crime.
The 'Rural Housing Improvement' support project offers loans at a lower interest rate (2% per annum) than the market rate, with a maximum of 250 million KRW for new construction (including reconstruction and rebuilding) and up to 150 million KRW for extension or major repairs.
However, those who wish to move to rural areas must dispose of their urban housing and complete their move-in registration to a rural house after obtaining building use approval and before the loan is transferred from the relevant financial institution (Nonghyup).
Hampyeong residents who wish to apply for support can do so at their local town or township office by the 7th of next month.
County Governor Lee Sangik said, "The rural residential environment improvement project is making Hampyeong a beautiful and happy city," and added, "We will continue to provide ample support to further enhance the quality of life for our residents."
