The National Police Agency announced on the 19th that it will implement special security measures for the Lunar New Year holiday until the 30th.
Locations where major crimes and safety accidents are likely to occur will be selected, and vulnerabilities will be identified and improved through on-site inspections. Residents will be guided to establish crime prevention and response education as well as their own security systems, and customized security measures will be developed in cooperation with the provincial autonomous police committees. For crime-prone areas, visible and problem-solving preventive activities will be strengthened using local police, mobile patrol units, and neighborhood watch groups.
The 112 Comprehensive Security Situation Room will strengthen the situation management system and actively respond to crimes against socially vulnerable groups, violations of public livelihood, and safety accidents to ensure public safety. Families at high risk of repeated domestic violence and ongoing child abuse cases under investigation will be closely monitored to prevent recurrence of crimes against socially vulnerable individuals. Strict crackdowns will be conducted on major crimes such as aggravated theft, domestic violence, phishing scams, and drug-related offenses.
Customized traffic management will be implemented at congested areas and during the stages of outbound and return travel to minimize public inconvenience. Accident-prone sections and congested locations will be inspected and managed in advance before the holiday, and smooth vehicle flow and accident prevention activities will be carried out mainly on national highways connected to expressways.
The National Police Agency stated, “We will focus all our capabilities on special security activities to ensure that the public can spend the Lunar New Year holiday peacefully and strive to establish public safety.”
