On the 17th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon called Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, a "target for liquidation." Mayor Oh criticized, "The country that the Democratic Party of Korea is trying to create by exploiting the martial law situation is a country that is only good for Lee Jae-myung."
On the same day, Mayor Oh posted on Facebook, saying, "Leader Lee Jae-myung is a target for liquidation."
Mayor Oh pointed out, "The one-polar system Democratic Party under Leader Lee Jae-myung has shaken the foundation of the nation," adding, "They have carried out indiscriminate relay impeachments against the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, ministers, and even prosecutors investigating Leader Lee, effectively rendering the government nonfunctional." He continued, "Focusing on partisan interests, they have routinely committed unprecedented abnormalities in constitutional history, such as passing the budget bill solely by the opposition party and impeaching the acting president."
He particularly targeted Leader Lee, accusing him of "using all sorts of tricks to avoid the blade of the rule of law." He added, "In a country where the sitting president is arrested, the opposition leader’s shield and trial delays are endlessly tolerated," and criticized, "Leader Lee, who has built his political position on the soil of conflict and confrontation and grown his power through blind fandom, is already merely a target for political liquidation."
Mayor Oh emphasized, "Restoring reason and common sense is the new wave of politics and the way to respond to the people's wishes."
Earlier, Mayor Oh expressed his stance on President Yoon Seok-youl’s arrest on charges including leading a rebellion, stating, "It is desirable for the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) to step back from the presidential investigation and for it to be conducted without detention." He also stressed the necessity of non-detention investigation. Mayor Oh said, "There is no risk of flight, and the custody of most related persons has been secured. Even today, the Presidential Security Service did not block the entry of the arrest personnel," adding, "There is no reason to forcibly secure custody other than to 'cause embarrassment'." He further stated, "Even now, investigative agencies should not be swayed by pressure from the Democratic Party and must follow due legal procedures."
