Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held an opening ceremony for the upgraded Wungsang Health Center, which has enhanced public health functions, on the 16th.
About 200 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Na Dong-yeon of Yangsan, National Assembly member Kim Tae-ho, City Council Chairman Kwak Jong-po, Provincial Council Vice Chairman Park In, provincial and city council members, heads of related organizations, and local residents, celebrating the new beginning of Wungsang Health Center.
The opening ceremony began with performances by the Wungsang Senior Welfare Center and the Yangsan City Choir, followed by a progress report, commemorative speeches, congratulatory speeches, a ribbon-cutting, a unveiling ceremony, and a facility tour. The unveiling ceremony was specially prepared to officially announce the opening of Wungsang Health Center and to wish for the health promotion of citizens.
Wungsang Health Center has been upgraded from a health branch office to a health center with an organization consisting of one office and six teams, providing enhanced public health medical services to residents in the eastern part of Yangsan and improving accessibility.
On the first floor of Wungsang Health Center, there are a civil service office, consultation rooms, dental clinic, oral health project office, physical examination room, clinical pathology room, radiology room, vaccination room, and a children's health experience center. A self-health measurement zone is also available where any citizen can visit anytime to measure their own health indicators such as stress, body fat, and blood pressure. On the second floor, new facilities include a Korean medicine clinic, rehabilitation physical therapy room, tuberculosis room, and maternal and child health office.
On the day of the official opening, a resident health experience event was also held at the health center. Under the theme "A New Start! Closer Service, Healthier Citizens," free experiences and health project promotions were conducted, including smoking cessation, oral health, maternal and child health, and infectious disease prevention.
With its upgrade to a health center, the facility plans to enhance efficiency by linking newly established and strengthened tasks such as ▲strengthening public health medical treatment and testing functions ▲enhancing emergency disaster preparedness ▲strengthening infectious disease response ▲providing one-stop support for various medical expenses ▲food and public hygiene tasks ▲operation of the Eastern Health Living Support Center, along with existing operations, to become a regional health medical institution that satisfies citizens.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon stated, "The newly launched Wungsang Health Center will provide citizens with completely different health care services than before," adding, "We will do our best to fulfill our role for citizens' health by expanding projects such as dementia and mental health and developing health projects specialized for Eastern Yangsan."
