Jeonju Municipal Gugak Orchestra to Hold New Year Concert 'Evolution V' on the 22nd

Jeonju Municipal Gugak Orchestra (Artistic Director and Conductor Shim Sangwook) announced on the 15th that it will hold the New Year's Concert 'Evolution V' at 7:30 PM on the 22nd at Yeonji Hall, Korea Sound Culture Hall.

This performance, organized as part of the orchestra's 241st regular concert, is expected to deliver warm comfort and hope to the hearts of citizens who struggled and grew weary last year, by combining Western and Korean traditional instruments with the voices of the Jeonju Municipal Choir.

The program will feature pieces such as "Chwihago Tahada" (composed by Kim Changhwan), "Arirang" Concerto for Piano and Korean Orchestra (composed by Kim Samgon), "Journey of the Blue Desert," a Gayageum Sanjo Concerto in the Kim Byeongho style (composed by Lee Jeongho), and "San-gok," a Haegeum Concerto (composed by Hwang Hojun).

Performers include pianist Lee Jooyong, gayageum player Lee Yewon, haegeum player Noh Euna, and the Jeonju Municipal Choir.

Tickets are 5,000 KRW for general admission and 3,000 KRW for students (elementary, middle, and high school) and groups of 20 or more. Reservations can be made through Naru Culture. A 30% discount is available for holders of the Artist Pass Card.

Noh Eunyoung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Jeonju City, said, "The Gugak Orchestra has prepared a performance for everyone to enjoy in celebration of the New Year," and added, "We hope for much interest from citizens in this special concert, which blends the beauty of Korean traditional music with a modern sensibility."
