Goheung County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 14th that it will continue to provide a marriage congratulatory fund of 4 million KRW this year to alleviate the initial economic burden of marriage for young couples and to foster a culture that encourages marriage.
Eligible applicants are young couples under the age of 49. The support is provided once in a lifetime, and as of the application date, both spouses must have continuously resided in the province with registered addresses for at least six months. Both must remain residents in the province until the payment date, and at least one spouse must have a registered address in Goheung County.
The application period is from six months after the marriage registration date up to 18 months. If the above conditions are met, a marriage congratulatory fund of 2 million KRW will be provided. Additionally, if both spouses continue to reside in Goheung County with registered addresses from the initial payment month, an additional "Goheung County Marriage Encouragement Fund" of 1 million KRW per year will be given for two years.
Either spouse can apply, and the required documents?including a copy of the resident registration, marriage certificate, and a copy of a bank account?must be submitted to the Population Administration Team at the local township or town office of their registered address.
Meanwhile, Goheung County is also supporting young couples with wedding expenses (1 million KRW), home purchase loan interest (up to 3 million KRW), and the Youth Stepping Stone Housing Stability program (up to 4.8 million KRW) to help them prepare for a stable future and settle down. The county is also promoting various initiatives to create a marriage-friendly social atmosphere, such as operating the Goheungae Solomon Volunteer Group.
