The accident involved 44 vehicles in total, including four six-vehicle collisions, one three-vehicle collision, six two-vehicle collisions, and five single-vehicle accidents.


As a result, a driver in his 40s of a 16-ton truck sustained facial fractures and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.


The police and fire authorities believe the accident was caused by icy road conditions and have been managing the accident scene.

Gyeonggi Province issued a safety advisory text at 6:40 a.m. on the same day, stating, "Due to road icing (black ice) and snow accumulation in areas where snow and rain fell early in the morning, there is a risk of traffic and slipping accidents while walking. Please be cautious for your safety during the morning commute."
