on LA Fire Department's Racial Equity Plan Post
"DEI Means People Die"

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and known as the 'First Buddy' (the president's close friend) of President-elect Donald Trump, claimed that the wildfire suppression in Los Angeles (LA), California, was delayed due to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).

On the 9th (local time), The Washington Post (WP) and others reported that Musk shared a post from an anti-LGBTQ+ account on his X (formerly Twitter), claiming that the LA Fire Department had passed a 'Racial Equity Plan' to stop racial discrimination.

The 'Racial Equity Plan' is a policy introduced by the LA Fire Department in 2021 to collect racial and gender statistics of employees to assess diversity within the organization. Musk shared the post with the comment, "They prioritized DEI over saving lives and homes." In another post, he criticized, "DEI means people die."

He also shared a post claiming that California Governor Gavin Newsom did not build water reservoirs, calling it "crazy." He further shared posts criticizing Newsom's water resource and forest management policies as failures, adding "truth."

Additionally, he responded "Absolutely" to a post stating that all California politicians responsible for failing to prepare from water resource management to fire control and fire department budgets are Democratic Party members.

Musk left more than 80 posts and replies related to the recent LA wildfire. Using the LA wildfire as a pretext, Musk criticized Democratic policies and personnel. However, some of these claims have been reported to contain falsehoods or be based on racially discriminatory ideas, causing controversy.
