원본보기 아이콘Gwangju and most areas of Jeonnam are currently under heavy snow advisories, with significant snowfall of 3 to 5 cm per hour.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 9th, as of around 2:30 p.m. that day, heavy snow advisories were issued for Gwangju and Jeonnam's Naju, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Jangseong, Hwasun, Boseong, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Mokpo, Shinan, and Jindo. The expected snowfall until the 10th is between 5 and 15 cm, with some areas seeing more than 20 cm. The expected precipitation is around 5 to 15 mm.
The lowest temperatures on the morning of the 10th are forecasted as follows: Damyang and Gokseong -12 degrees Celsius, Jangseong, Gurye, Hwasun, Naju, and Boseong -11 degrees, Gwangju, Yeongam, and Suncheon -10 degrees, Gwangyang and Jangheung -9 degrees, Yeonggwang and Gangjin -8 degrees, Hampyeong, Haenam, and Yeosu -7 degrees, Muan and Shinan -6 degrees, Mokpo and Wando -5 degrees, and Jindo -4 degrees.
The highest daytime temperatures are expected to be similar to the previous day, with Gwangyang, Yeosu, Haenam, Jindo, Wando, Goheung, and Yeosu at 3 degrees Celsius, Shinan, Mokpo, Gangjin, Jangheung, and Suncheon at 2 degrees, Hampyeong, Muan, Naju, Yeongam, Boseong, and Gurye at 1 degree, and Gwangju, Yeonggwang, Damyang, Gokseong, and Hwasun at 0 degrees.
Waves in the sea are expected to be 1.5 to 3.5 meters high in the West Sea and 1 to 2 meters in the South Sea. Fine dust concentrations in both Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to remain at a 'good' level.
A Korea Meteorological Administration official stated, "In areas where rain or snow is falling, visibility will be low, and as snow accumulates, icy roads and black ice are likely to occur. Please pay close attention to traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as the risk of damage to livestock barns, greenhouses, and weak structures."
