Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station (Chief Moon Heejun) announced on the 9th that it is urging citizens to follow safety guidelines to reduce residential electrical fires during the winter season.

As the recent mild temperatures have suddenly dropped, the use of electric heating appliances and heating devices has surged, increasing the risk of electrical fires.

Electrical fires mainly occur due to overheated wires, aging electrical products, overcurrent, and overloaded outlets. If initial fire suppression is delayed, it can result in significant casualties and property damage.

To prevent electrical fires, it is necessary to: ▲Check for damaged wiring or insulation ▲Avoid using multi-plug outlets excessively ▲Clean dust around electrical appliances ▲Ensure the safety of aging electrical products and use them within their rated capacity ▲Regularly check the proper functioning of circuit breakers and promptly cut off power if any abnormality is detected.

Dongbu Fire Station recommends using "stick-on fire patches" and multi-tap outlets with grounding features to prevent fires, and is actively promoting various firefighting products.

Moon Heejun, Chief of Dongbu Fire Station, emphasized, "Electrical fires can cause significant damage even from minor negligence, so special attention must be paid when using electric heating appliances and electrical products. I hope that by strictly following electrical fire prevention guidelines, fires can be prevented in advance, and in case of a fire, prompt initial response can minimize damage."
