The Jungang-dong Haengbok Kiwoom Support Group in Cheonan, Chungnam, saved a life in crisis through their swift response.
According to the city on the 9th, the support group was carrying out the "Haengbok Bapsang" project, which provides meals to vulnerable groups, on December 27 last year when they discovered an 82-year-old woman, Ms. Shin, unconscious and collapsed at her home. They administered first aid and transported her to the hospital.
On the 3rd of the same month, they also rescued Mr. Kim, a basic livelihood recipient with a disability living alone. At the time of discovery, Mr. Kim had suffered a fracture after falling from his bed.
Mr. Kim is currently hospitalized in a nursing hospital and is known to require additional treatment. The support group plans to provide medical expenses for Mr. Kim and to monitor Ms. Shin after her discharge.
Kim Kyunghwa, a member who rescued Ms. Shin, said, "I am glad we could help the resident before she was in greater danger," and added, "I felt proud as a member of the group."
