CJ Logistics provided welfare benefits such as children's tuition fees and childbirth support funds to more than 22,000 delivery workers last year, supporting up to 8.1 million KRW per person.
On the 8th, CJ Logistics announced that it invested 6 billion KRW last year to support seven major welfare programs for delivery workers, including children's tuition fees, childbirth support funds, enrollment congratulatory money, additional health checkups, and condolence support. Since the welfare benefits began in 2012, the cumulative amount supported has reached approximately 55 billion KRW.
Although delivery workers are individual contractors who sign contracts with agencies, CJ Logistics has steadily expanded welfare items since starting the tuition support system in 2012. The number of beneficiaries increased from 1,300 in the first year of the welfare system to more than 22,000 last year.
The welfare benefits provided by CJ Logistics to delivery workers include seven items: children's tuition support, additional health checkups, enrollment congratulatory money, childbirth support funds, condolence support, holiday gifts, and birthday gifts.
For children's tuition, delivery workers with more than five years of service can receive up to 4 million KRW annually per child, supporting up to two children. Last year, a total of 1,108 people benefited. Delivery workers with school-age children receive enrollment congratulatory money of up to 500,000 KRW for kindergarten and 200,000 KRW for elementary, middle, and high school, depending on their years of delivery service.
If the delivery worker or their spouse gives birth, they receive childbirth support funds worth 500,000 KRW and childbirth gifts. In cases of family events such as marriage or death of immediate family members, they can use the condolence support system, which provides condolence money, condolence delivery fees, wreaths, and funeral supplies. Small gifts are also given during holidays and on the delivery worker's birthday.
The additional health checkup program was introduced in 2014. Beyond the basic health checkups provided by the government, about 60 additional test items can be added, including diabetes, kidney disease, liver fibrosis, and liver function tests. If classified as a high-risk group based on the checkup results, the 'in-depth health checkup service' is also provided, allowing them to receive detailed examinations without additional costs for further tests or substitute delivery fees on the examination day.
Yoon Jae-seung, head of CJ Logistics One Headquarters, said, "Delivery workers' job satisfaction must be high to provide the best service to customers," adding, "We will strive to gradually implement a five-day workweek and expand welfare benefits so that delivery workers can take pride in their profession and contribute to the successful establishment of seven-day delivery."
