The "Local University Revitalization Project" is a university financial support program that helps non-metropolitan private universities build competitiveness through specialization linked to regional development based on partnerships between universities and local governments, enabling both the region and the university to grow together.

This evaluation targeted 66 universities nationwide participating in the Local University Revitalization Project and assessed areas such as ▲ collaboration and communication between local governments and universities ▲ academic structure and curriculum ▲ performance management ▲ RISE linkage plans.

Gyeongnam National University received an A grade by establishing a governance system involving local government, industry, academia, and research institutes to develop specialized curriculum and cultivation project models, continuously conducting consultations to clearly define the roles of participating entities, and reorganizing existing courses into project-based courses and courses related to Gyeongnam’s strategic industries.

In particular, having received excellent evaluations in the RISE linkage plan, the university is expected to establish itself as a key player in regional development through the Gyeongnam RISE project, which will be actively promoted this year.

Gyeongnam National University has been leading the cultivation of outstanding talent by operating a total of five specialized fields: "Smart Manufacturing ICT," "Future Mobility," "Bio and Digital Healthcare," "Digital Cultural Contents," and "Smart Tourism Trade and Logistics Business," driving the co-growth of the university and the region. This year, plans are in place to link these five specialized fields to the Gyeongnam RISE project as well.
