The Seoul Metropolitan Branch of the Korean Red Cross (President Kwon Young-gyu) announced on the 6th that it delivered new school year encouragement books to children and adolescents living in child welfare facilities, sponsored by the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation.

This sharing activity was planned to support the reading culture of children and adolescents in child welfare facilities and to deliver New Year encouragement. It was made possible through funds from the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, which were raised by POSCO Technology Investment employees donating a fixed amount monthly. The new school year encouragement books were composed of books requested in advance by the children and adolescents, and a total of 144 requested books were delivered to 40 children and adolescents at four child welfare facilities (Seongsim Hyoju House, Gangnam Dreamville, Yesung House, and Boy Jesus House).

Kim Juhan, a staff member of the Strategic Investment Office at POSCO Technology Investment, said, "We participated together with employees hoping that children can stay close to books and dream healthily. We hope that this small sincerity will be conveyed as hope, and we will continue various social contribution activities so that circumstances do not become barriers to dreams."

Jeon Hyungsun, Chairperson of the Gangnam District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association, said, "The list of hope books included works by Han Kang, the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and we thank the POSCO Technology Investment employees for supporting adolescents to grow by reading and writing literature."

The Seoul Branch of the Korean Red Cross and the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation continue to deliver scholarships, bread-sharing volunteer activities, and new school year encouragement gifts to children and adolescents in child welfare facilities as ongoing projects through the ‘Hope Dream’ program.
