WSI announced on the 6th that its subsidiary Easy Medi Bot plans to commercialize the world's first robot uterine elevator 'U-BOT' this year. The prototype development has been completed, and after obtaining product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, full-scale domestic sales and exports will commence.
U-BOT is an assist robot designed to support gynecological laparoscopic surgery. By automating the uterine elevation task, it can reduce surgery time and minimize human error.
Currently, even in high-cost robotic equipment surgeries priced between 2 to 3 billion KRW, the uterine elevation task is a high-intensity job that medical staff must perform while seated for long periods. Although most of this work is handled by residents, a shortage of obstetrics and gynecology residents has led to cases where surgeries are reduced or delayed. This issue is also serious in advanced medical countries, making U-BOT a technology attracting attention as a solution to the shortage of medical personnel.
The main indications of U-BOT are ▲ laparoscopic hysterectomy ▲ myomectomy ▲ ovarian cancer surgery ▲ uterine artery embolization, among others. Since it improves the problems of existing methods through robotic automatic control technology, expansion into various surgical fields is also expected.
