Seo Yongkyu, a member of the Gwangju City Council (The Minjoo Party of Korea, Proportional Representation), announced on the 6th that he recently received a plaque of appreciation from the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in recognition of his contributions to enhancing the honor of national patriots.


As a first-class national patriot, Councilor Seo has served as a member of the Environment and Welfare Committee during both the first and second halves of the 9th council, where he has been actively involved in policy proposals and legislative activities aimed at improving the welfare of Gwangju citizens and enhancing their quality of life.


In particular, he was recognized for his efforts to amend ordinances related to the treatment and welfare of national patriots, as well as for his contributions to advancing the rights and welfare of national patriots.


Councilor Seo also took the lead in enacting the "Gwangju City Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of Priority Parking Zones for National Patriots," which provides parking spaces at public institutions and multi-use facilities for national patriots who have sacrificed or contributed to the nation, thereby promoting their honor and fostering patriotism among Gwangju citizens.


Councilor Seo emphasized, "I will continue to promote a culture of honoring patriots in order to enhance the honor and treatment of those who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the nation," and added, "I will also actively work to implement policies that further improve the welfare and honor of veterans and their families based on real-life needs."
