Kwak Eun-kyung, Secretary General of Consumer Watch, Appointed as Standing Director of Korea Consumer Agency

The Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 6th that it has appointed Gwak Eun-kyung, Secretary General of Consumer Watch, as the new Standing Director.

The term of the Standing Director of the Consumer Agency is two years (renewable), and the President of the Consumer Agency appoints the director from among multiple candidates recommended by the Executive Recommendation Committee.


Since 2005, Standing Director Gwak has served as Secretary General at the Free Enterprise Institute and Consumer Watch for about 20 years, participating in policy and institutional improvement activities to guarantee consumer choice rights, such as regulations on large discount stores and the fixed book price system. In addition, she has shown interest in enhancing consumer benefits in new markets such as non-face-to-face medical services and legal platforms.


The Consumer Agency stated, "We expect Standing Director Gwak to play a significant role in promoting consumer rights and creating a fair market environment based on her experience and expertise in the consumer field."
