This achievement is attributed to the efforts of Jeollanam-do and its 22 cities and counties, the active participation of former residents and the Jeollanam Love Supporters, and the enthusiastic support from people across the nation who love and care about Jeollanam-do.
In particular, Jeollanam-do and its 22 cities and counties have implemented various projects to improve residents' lives and provide welfare support, such as the 'Hometown Village Revitalization Project' for developing experiential return gifts, the 'Community Laundry Room Operation Project,' the 'Gift a Pediatrician!' campaign in Gokseong, and the 'Yeongam Mom Safety Project' in Yeongam.
Through these initiatives, donors have felt a sense of satisfaction knowing their contributions are making a tangible impact on the local community, which has naturally led to repeat donations.
Jeollanam-do plans to continue developing and implementing various policies this year to further promote the Hometown Love Donation Program. The province intends to move beyond traditional return gifts such as agricultural products, livestock, seafood, and processed foods, and introduce experiential gifts that allow donors to experience local culture firsthand.
Additionally, Jeollanam-do will actively discover and promote local specialties to enhance the diversity and quality of return gifts, making Jeollanam's specialties more appealing to consumers nationwide.
Kang Kyungmun, Director of the Hometown Love Division in Jeollanam-do, stated, "The Hometown Love Donation Program has established itself as an important system for resident welfare and regional development," adding, "We will continue to develop the program by discovering fund projects that reflect donors' opinions and ensuring transparent management."
Meanwhile, provisional figures for the 2024 donation total show that Muan-gun raised 1.5 billion KRW, which is three times the amount collected in 2023. Notably, approximately 1.1 billion KRW was donated in just two days from December 30, 2024, immediately following the Jeju Air passenger plane accident, reflecting the public's sympathy, gratitude toward the region supporting the bereaved families, and the collective desire to overcome the crisis together.
