Park Chan-dae, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 5th for refusing to comply with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit's arrest warrant execution, saying, "Yoon Seok-yeol still does not respond to the arrest and is inciting a bloody conflict."
At an emergency party members' meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Park stated, "We must punish the ringleader of the insurrection and his accomplices to prevent the repetition of unfortunate history." He added, "Yoon Seok-yeol must take responsibility for all his current actions," and said, "The Democratic Party will resolutely and determinedly suppress the ringleader of the insurrection and his accomplices completely."
He emphasized, "Yoon Seok-yeol is trying to drag the entire nation into the horrors of war and attempted to neutralize constitutional institutions by mobilizing armed troops," adding, "If we do not judge this madman who destroys constitutional order, democracy, and the rule of law, throwing South Korea's national dignity into chaos and caring nothing if the people die or the country collapses as long as he survives, the people will not be able to rest peacefully."
Floor Leader Park also mentioned a tip-off regarding the first execution of the arrest warrant on the 3rd, stating that senior officials of the Presidential Security Service, including Park Jong-jun, the head of the Security Office, allegedly gave orders to "shoot if overwhelmed in a physical struggle." Park said, "If true, this is very shocking," and added, "If they gave a shooting order to protect the insurrection ringleader Yoon Seok-yeol, it is clear evidence that they are core members of the insurrection." He further stated, "They must immediately stop this reckless idea and action of hypnotizing the people and driving the country into civil war to protect the insurrection ringleader Yoon Seok-yeol."
Park urged Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, saying, "Neglecting the obstruction of law enforcement and insurrection acts by the Security Office is turning South Korea into a lawless land," and called on Acting Prime Minister Choi to "swiftly suppress (the Security Office's obstruction of the arrest warrant) unless he is an accomplice to the insurrection."
However, the Presidential Security Service denied the claim that Director Park gave a shooting order.
