Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Anduk Geun will embark on a trip to the United States to enhance cooperation.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Ahn will visit the U.S. from the 6th to the 10th to meet with U.S. lawmakers and federal and state government officials to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of industry, trade, and energy, and will also pay respects on the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
First, Minister Ahn will visit the state of Georgia, where many Korean companies are active in advanced industries such as automobiles, batteries, and semiconductors, from the 6th to the 7th. In Georgia, he plans to meet with Governor Brian Kemp and others to request active support and attention for Korean companies investing in Georgia. He will also visit the SK On Georgia plant and hold a meeting with Korean companies operating in Georgia to review challenges faced by companies investing in the U.S. and discuss ways to strengthen Korea-U.S. industrial cooperation at the state level.
Then, from the 8th to the 10th, Minister Ahn will visit Washington D.C. to meet with members of the U.S. Congress related to Korean companies' investment and business activities in the U.S., requesting congressional interest and support to ensure stable investment and operations by Korean companies in the U.S. He will also exchange views on ways to strengthen Korea-U.S. cooperation in advanced industries through meetings with U.S. industry and think tank representatives.
Minister Ahn stated, "Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter greatly contributed to maintaining a stable and strong cooperative relationship between Korea and the U.S.," expressing condolences on his passing. He added, "This visit to the U.S. will guarantee a stable business environment for our companies in the U.S. and serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Korea and the U.S. across all fields of industry, trade, and energy under the new U.S. administration."
