Gyeongbuk Strawberries Exported to Dubai for the First Time... "50 Billion Won Invested in Strawberry Facility Modernization"

Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 5th that Nam Sangju Nonghyup's strawberries, Geumsil and Snowberry, were exported for the first time to Dubai through the export company Gyeongbuk Tongsang Co., Ltd.

This export is the result of the activities of the agricultural and food halal market pioneering team in October last year. To preserve the quality of the strawberries, the hardness of the packaging box paper was improved, the height was increased to prevent product compression, and the packaging was adjusted to contain 2 pieces per box and one layer per package to meet the demands of overseas consumers.

In addition, the strawberries exported to Dubai are a mixed product of Geumsil and Snowberry, and export expansion to the Middle Eastern market is expected in the future.

Gyeongbuk Province is promoting the 'Berry Good Project' to raise awareness of the excellence of Gyeongbuk strawberries and to expand the export market.

The Berry Good Project is a business aimed at accelerating the agricultural transformation through modernization of strawberry facilities and realization of advanced agriculture. From 2024 to 2030, it plans to invest about 50 billion KRW to establish a system for producing and distributing high-quality seedlings, modernize facilities, and expand export markets.

Kim Ju-ryeong, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Distribution Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "This export to the Dubai market plays an important role in expanding the strawberry export market and revitalizing the strawberry industry," and added, "We will fully support efforts to present safe and high-quality Gyeongbuk strawberries not only to the Middle East but also to consumers worldwide."
