On the 31st, the last day of 2024 and a Tuesday, the whole country will have mostly cloudy skies until dawn, gradually clearing up afterwards.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 30th, on the 31st, there will be rain or snow until early dawn in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Chungbuk, northeastern Jeonbuk, and northeastern inland and mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk. The expected snowfall is forecasted to be less than 1 cm.
The morning low temperatures will range from -8 to 4 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs will be between 2 and 9 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will be higher than average (morning lows -12 to 0 degrees, daytime highs 1 to 9 degrees) for the time being, but by the 1st of next month, the northeastern part of Gyeonggi and inland Gangwon are expected to experience morning temperatures around minus 10 degrees Celsius, making it quite cold.
Most regions will be able to see the sunset. In some parts of Jeolla and Jeju, the sunset will be visible through low clouds.
Expected sunset times by region are: Seoul at 5:24 PM, Gangneung at 5:16 PM, Daejeon at 5:25 PM, Gwangju at 5:31 PM, Busan at 5:22 PM, and Jeju at 5:36 PM.
Fine dust levels will be at a 'moderate' level across all regions, but in the early morning, the Seoul metropolitan area, Yeongseo region of Gangwon, and Chungcheong area will experience 'bad' levels, and in the morning, Honam, Yeongnam, and Jeju regions will also show 'bad' levels.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. In the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 1.5 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea, and 1.0 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea.
