Gwangju City will assign a director-level public official as a dedicated officer to provide one-on-one support for the bereaved families of the victims of the Jeju Airport passenger plane disaster.

On the 30th, Gwangju City held the '4th Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Jidaebon) Meeting' in the main conference room at City Hall, presided over by Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Ko Gwangwan, to discuss 'Funeral Support Measures for the Victims of the Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster.'

At the '4th Jidaebon Meeting' held that day, the city decided to form a funeral support team to assist with the funeral procedures and facility use for the victims. In particular, for the support of the bereaved families, a director-level official will be assigned to each family for one-on-one dedicated assistance, providing convenience, resolving civil complaints, and offering funeral support.

The assigned officials will first focus on supporting the funeral arrangements for the victims. In cooperation with funeral facilities and the five autonomous districts, they will immediately connect and support bereaved families who wish to use funeral facilities in the Gwangju area. In addition, a separate space will be provided for the bereaved families, and daily necessities such as water, blankets, and temporary accommodation will be supplied. Real-time information on the disaster situation will also be provided to the families.

The city will also set up and operate a joint memorial altar for the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster at the May 18 Democracy Square in Dong-gu, as a way for the local community to mourn the victims.

In addition, the city will provide psychological recovery support and emergency livelihood stabilization assistance for the victims and their families. Expert counseling will be provided to help alleviate the psychological and emotional shock for bereaved families and accompanying persons who may need psychological stability and social adaptation support due to the disaster.

Vice Mayor Ko Gwangwan stated, "We have decided to assign and operate one-on-one dedicated officials to establish a prompt and accurate communication channel with the bereaved families and provide practical support," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide convenience and resolve civil complaints to minimize the inconvenience of the bereaved families."
