Namwon City to Provide Military Enlistment Support Fund of 200,000 Won Per Person Starting Next Year

Namwon City in North Jeolla Province will provide a conscription support fund of 200,000 won to citizens enlisting in the military starting from January 1 next year.

According to the city on the 30th, the 'Conscription Support Fund' introduced this year was implemented to support and encourage Namwon citizens preparing for enlistment as they fulfill their mandatory military service.

The recipients are those scheduled for enlistment (call-up) as active-duty soldiers or social service agents, who, as of the application date, have continuously resided and maintained their address in Namwon City for at least one year and will enlist on or after January 1 next year.

Applications can be made by visiting the administrative welfare center of the applicant's registered address with their ID and enlistment notice from the day they receive the enlistment notice until the day before enlistment.

If, due to unavoidable circumstances, the application cannot be made before enlistment, it can be submitted after enlistment. In this case, a legal representative, such as a direct ascendant who meets the requirements, may apply on behalf of the applicant.

However, if enlistment is postponed after receiving the enlistment notice or if the applicant does not actually enlist, the application cannot be submitted. The support fund will be provided in the form of the Namwon Love Gift Certificate, the local currency of Namwon City, and can only be used at designated local currency merchants in Namwon from the date of issuance.

Mayor Choi Kyungsik said, "I hope this will instill a sense of pride in being a Namwon citizen and provide some support to the young people of Namwon City fulfilling their national defense duties," adding, "After the implementation of the program, we will address any shortcomings regarding eligibility and application periods through feedback from field civil complaints."
