Iksan City Supports Families of Victims in Jeju Air Passenger Plane Tragedy

Deployment of Dedicated Public Officials on the Day of the Accident

Iksan City in North Jeolla Province has stepped in to support the families of victims of the 'Jeju Air passenger plane disaster'.


According to the city on the 30th, it has been confirmed that two Iksan citizens lost their lives in the accident involving a passenger plane arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, which occurred the previous day at Muan Airport in South Jeolla Province.


On the day of the accident, the city dispatched dedicated personnel to the scene to assist the bereaved families with the recovery of the victims and funeral procedures.

In addition, the city is making every effort to support the families by conducting prior consultations with the insurance company regarding the payment of citizen safety insurance and reviewing the procedures for national disaster relief funds.


The city plans to cancel all official events scheduled during the national mourning period until the 4th of next month, including the New Year's Eve bell-ringing ceremony, sunrise event, year-end ceremony, and new year kick-off ceremony. Flags will be flown at half-mast at all government offices in each town, township, and district, and public officials will wear mourning ribbons to share in the grief.


Mayor Jung Heon-yul said, "It is heartbreaking and devastating that two of our citizens lost their lives in this sudden accident. We will provide meticulous support to the bereaved families so that all processes, from victim identification and recovery to funeral arrangements, are carried out swiftly and without inconvenience."
