The government will form an integrated psychological support team and provide psychological assistance to prevent national trauma related to the Jeju Air passenger plane crash disaster.
On the 30th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it has formed an integrated psychological support team at the National Trauma Center regarding the Jeju Air passenger plane accident that occurred the previous day, and will systematically provide psychological support to disaster survivors by utilizing available resources from related ministries.
Since the possibility of trauma is high among bereaved families and witnesses, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety held a meeting of the Central Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Team the previous day to discuss psychological support measures with related ministries and private experts, and decided accordingly.
Anyone who is emotionally distressed due to this accident can visit or call the city/provincial Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Center, or call the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s mental health crisis counseling service to receive psychological counseling.
Jo Deok-jin, Director of Disaster Recovery Support at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, "The government will actively provide psychological support together with related ministries and experts to ensure that the bereaved families and participants in disaster relief activities do not suffer psychological difficulties due to this accident."
