Taean County in Chungnam announced that it will cancel all year-end and New Year’s sunset and sunrise events, and that the "2025 Year of Visiting Taean" proclamation ceremony, which was scheduled for the 31st, will also be postponed indefinitely.
According to the county on the 30th, this measure is to express condolences and sympathy for the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeonnam on the 29th.
Additionally, all other events, including the sunset event (Kkotji on the 31st) and sunrise events (Baekhwasan, Geunheung Yeonpo, Gonan Yeongmok, Wonbuk Iwhasan, and Iwon Dangbong on the 1st), have been canceled.
Gase-ro, the governor of Taean County, said, "I pray for the souls of the deceased and extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families," adding, "We will share the pain of the families who are experiencing great sorrow together with our residents."
