Gyeongsang National University Hosts 'Aerospace Industry Grand Network 2024' Event

Proceeding Under the Theme of Bold Steps for a New Space Aviation Era

The Gyeongsang National University Gyeongnam Jinju Small and Strong Special Zone Support Center announced on the 30th that it successfully held the ‘Korea Aerospace Industry Grand Network 2024’ event at the Geoje Sono Calm Hotel under the theme ‘A Bold Step for a New Aerospace Era.’

Started in 2021, this event was co-hosted by the Gyeongsang National University Gyeongnam Jinju Small and Strong Special Zone Support Center, the Aviation Drone Innovation Convergence University Project Group, Korea Ceramic Technology Institute, Korea Testing Laboratory, Gyeongnam Technopark, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, with sponsorship from the Aerospace Administration.

This year’s event expanded in scale and scope from the ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Aerospace Industry Grand Network’ to the ‘Korea Aerospace Industry Grand Network,’ presenting the direction of the domestic and international aerospace industry. It became a valuable opportunity to establish a close cooperative system where over 150 experts, including executives and employees of aerospace-related companies, academic experts, related institution officials, and the Embassy of the Netherlands, could grow together.

On the first day of the event, the Aerospace Administration began with a keynote presentation titled ‘Opening of the Aerospace Administration and 2024 Korea Aerospace Industry Review.’ The Korean Defense Space Society delivered the keynote speech ‘Trend Aerospace Korea 2025,’ followed by a case presentation on ‘Global Aerospace Industry Expansion Strategy’ by the global company Siemens.

Next, GSITM, a digital transformation specialist company of the GS Group, connected via video call with Microsoft Korea to deliver a lecture on ‘Global Digital Transformation (DX) Trends and the Aerospace Industry,’ followed by a lecture from Korea Aerospace Industries titled ‘The Era of Future Air Mobility (AAM), First Mover and Fast Follower.’

Attendees shared ideas and exchanged information on expanding the domestic aerospace industry’s entry into the global market and on New Space, future air mobility, and digital transformation (DX) of manufacturing, which are recognized as symbols of innovative change in the future aerospace industry, seeking a transition to a new era together.

Additionally, through group open consultation meetings centered on large corporations, new business opportunities based on industry-academia-research-government networking were secured, and exchanges among stakeholders were held to propose the direction of Korea’s aerospace industry from 2025 to 2030 following the opening of the Aerospace Administration.

The Gyeongnam Jinju Small and Strong Special Zone Support Center held a general meeting of research institute companies in conjunction with the event, delivering plaques to about 40 research institute companies and establishing a collaborative platform for on-site, close-knit performance outcomes such as discovering joint projects through the 2025 business plan and listening to difficulties.

Center Director Moon Yong-ho said, “This event is expected to be an important opportunity for various achievements to be created through mutual cooperation between aerospace industry and related industry companies and professional support institutions, revitalizing the regional industry, and we will continue to provide active support.”

Park Jae-hyun, head of the Aviation Drone Innovation Convergence University Project Group, said, “We will do our best to nurture convergence talents in the advanced new technology fields of aviation and drones,” adding, “We will strive to use this event as an innovative platform to provide high-quality content.”
