The Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated the efforts and achievements made this year for local regulatory innovation across 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments) and selected excellent institutions.

This year, Paju City discovered and improved regulations through various methods such as a regulatory reform idea contest that companies and citizens can experience, and a visiting local regulatory reporting center, striving to resolve regulatory difficulties through proactive administration.

In addition, the city faithfully operated the Regulatory Reform Committee to conduct prior regulatory reviews aimed at achieving the best policy goals with minimal regulations and to analyze and gather potential issues arising from the enactment and revision of ordinances. As a result, it received high scores in efforts to improve regulations and the implementation of comprehensive regulatory plans.

Previously, Paju City had four improvement cases selected for shadow and behavioral regulation improvements through proactive administration by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and in September, it also won the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award (Encouragement Prize) at the Local Regulatory Innovation Best Practice Competition, proving its excellence in the field of regulatory innovation.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “Regulatory innovation is a crucial task directly connected to citizens' lives,” and added, “We will continue to discover and improve unreasonable regulations for citizens and companies.”
