The police investigating the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident' summoned Rep. Choo Kyung-ho of the People Power Party as a suspect for questioning.
The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency announced on the 28th that Rep. Choo was summoned and questioned on charges including rebellion.
The police special unit recently obtained a communication warrant for Rep. Choo's mobile phone and secured call records. It is reported that the police are currently analyzing the obtained data.
Previously, the police had requested Rep. Choo to appear twice.
Rep. Choo was accused by civic groups such as the Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Minbyun) of participating in the rebellion by calling People Power Party lawmakers to the party headquarters instead of the National Assembly plenary session where the vote to lift martial law was taking place on the day of the martial law, December 3. The Democratic Party of Korea also filed a complaint with the police on the 6th, accusing Rep. Choo of being an accomplice to President Yoon Suk-yeol in the crime of rebellion.
